We crave a different kind of love.
I illustrated the song Royals by Lorde...here's why
Growing up in a 2nd world country (Trinidad and Tobago, now a developing country) helped me to be more aware of the bigger world. I learned to value running water, not having to pay for school and the option of perusing an art career; because growing up in places like that makes it hard to dream. When you have to go home before it gets dark because of the violence, or having to carry water from a far distance to shower. The simplest things can make you happy, that's why my childhood is so memorable. We didn't have iPads, but we didn't miss them because climbing a tree and catching lizards was way more entertaining if you ask me. "And we'll never be royals (royals). It don't run in our bloodThat kind of luxe just ain't for us.
We crave a different kind of buzz."
